I think of the concept of leaders grow leaders a lot, but it is more often related to raising my children. I feel stressed sometimes that I am not a better leader and that they will not have the tools they need because of what I feel like is my poor example.
I find it a bit ironic that this article about character and leadership is for a government leaders publication, which is the arena that general public consensus would suggest is lacking in character. Regardless, I completely support the concept that the core issue for leaders is character. I love that the author points out three paths that one could begin to pursue to further develop character, but never ever over look the truth that character begins with the personal choice to be a person of integrity and honor. That personal choice is the very foundation of character and without having made that all the paths that you choose to pursue to develop character will have very limited effectiveness.
